Upcycling: Pallets

I love the look of pallet furniture. I just wonder where people get all the pallets from.

1.  Pallet bookshelf     2.  Pallet wall

3. Pallet shelf  4. Pallet steps

5.  Pallet-headboard2  6.  Pallet chair

1. Pallet Bookshelf

2. Pallet Wall.  I think that would make an awesome accent wall.

3. Pallet Shelf

4. Pallet Step. I just wonder how safe that is. Maybe its my paranoia kicking in. But I think it needs a rail. Maybe one made from black plumbers pipe so it keeps with the upcycling theme. Also it keeps with the industrial look.

5. Pallet Headboard. Out of all the ideas I’d want to make this one the most. The only thing I’m scared of is getting a pallet that’s treated with chemicals.

6. Pallet Chair. I think this would look awesome outside.

Cafe Ollin also know as Cafe Delicious

Cafe Ollin

My boyfriend and I take pride in finding cheap eats in the city. One day I had a horrible craving for Spanish food and Cafe Ollin totally hit the spot. And since my local spot (El Deportivo) closed. I had to find another place. Off topic…. They had been in buisness for as long as I can remember.  20+ years before it closed. It got turned into another a**hole yuppi bar. My neighborhood is becoming nothing but bars and Thai restaurants. So depressing. Anyway, back to the story. So in our search for some cheap eats we came across Cafe Ollin. Already glowing with great reviews we decided to check it out. Located in East Harlem, a tiny hole in the wall that can seat 10 people if you’re lucky. We both ended up having the same thing. The “Brody” It basically looks like whats pictured above.  A large sandwich made of of breaded beef, fried pork, ham, pineapple, white cheese, yellow cheese, and oaxacan cheese. It was amazing. a little spicy with lots of flavor. The meat was cooked just right that it fell apart. Each flavor was distinct but blended together to make an amazing dish. The cheese was gooey and melted together perfectly. The sandwich was also so big it lasted us two meals. More then you can ask for now a days. If you have $10 to spend and are in New York I highly recommend it.
